Although physiologic hormone replacement therapy (P-HRT) has a historically controversial reputation, the fact remains that P-HRT is the appropriate treatment for most women dealing with estradiol deficiency. When prescribed and delivered to the body properly via a patch or vaginal ring, P-HRT is a useful therapy that provides real results. Oral hormone replacement therapy is not recommended as it passes through the liver and is therefore not a safe protocol.
