Meet Kasandra Renee
I am a dedicated and experienced registered nurse specializing in hematology and oncology. I earned my Associate Degree in Nursing from Rowan College in 2018 and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University in 2019. With a strong commitment to excellence in patient care, I have achieved national certification as an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN), showcasing my expertise in oncology nursing. I am passionate about delivering compassionate, evidence-based care to patients facing complex hematologic and oncologic conditions.
In my practice, the standard of care includes regularly monitoring hormone levels in women receiving GnRH agonists or aromatase inhibitors to ensure adequate suppression. I never imagined that my hormone levels would one day align with those of patients undergoing medically induced menopause. This experience provided me with a profound and unexpected perspective, allowing me to connect with patients on a much deeper level. Navigating the emotional and physical challenges alongside my patients has been invaluable.
I have gained a deeper understanding of the grieving process that accompanies a medical diagnosis, as well as the complexities of managing daily life while coping with disease-related side effects. This insight has enhanced my ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care, fostering a safe and supportive environment where patients feel heard, understood, and empowered.
Throughout my journey with POI, I have come to understand the power of advocacy. In the early stages of my diagnosis, I met several physicians who could identify POI but had limited understanding of the next steps in management. I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Nelson and the resources provided by My28Days.org. His research equipped me with the knowledge and confidence to advocate for hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and the additional testing necessary for my care. Beyond benefiting my health, this experience has empowered me to advocate for other women navigating POI, ensuring they receive the comprehensive care they deserve.

We want women with POI to know there’s hope and there’s help. Find out more in our FAQs, Resources and through our Facebook Community.
